My Private Life
My name is Arvella M. Clare. I am a native Floridian, born in Lakeland, Florida. My hard working parents were married for 45 years. My parents provided a comfortable lifestyle even though neither completed middle school. However, they struggled to ensure that I received the best education possible and the opportunity to pursue my dreams. They knew that education was the only way that I could achieve my dreams. I graduated from public high school and went to Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida where I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I continued my education at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, where I received a Master's Degree in Community Psychology. After graduating, I worked for ten years as a counselor, and as a consultant at a youth facility for boys. I also supervised a social services program in Fort Myers, FL.
After marrying my husband Darryl Clare, we moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 2000. We have two daughters, ages 13 and 10 that attend public schools in Lee County. I currently serve on the School Advisory Council (SAC) and District Advisory Council (DAC) for the Lee County School System. My educational background and professional experience gives me a unique skill set that will serve to address the needs and the problems that face our students. The fact that I have two daughters in the school system means I have a public and a personal commitment in our educational process.
Now it is my time to use what I have accomplished, to make my vision a reality. My goal is to give back to the community that supported me. I want to give my children and your children the opportunity to achieve their dream. Join me in making this dream come true.
